Product information
Nicogan 40 SC is a sulphonylurea herbicide containing Nicosulfuron, an active substance, with strong herbicidal action against monocotyledonous weeds that are hard to combat (especially rhizomes cost) under conditions of total selectivity to corn. The product is applied only post-emergence and is rapidly absorbed by weeds, especially through the leaves, but also through the roots, and then translocates both ascending and descending into the sow current up to the meristems (growth points) where it causes irreversible disturbances in the cell division. The plants soon get a specific reddish color from treatment, etiolate and then necroze. Total weed control is achieved over a longer period of up to 3 weeks, but they stop growing immediately after treatment.
Like any systemic post-emergence herbicide, its action is greatly influenced by climatic and planting conditions since application, so that absorption and translocation are much more intense and faster when weeds have optimal growth conditions (light, heat, water, food) and as a result the combat effect is more complete. Corn plants succeed by their own mechanism of metabolizing the active substance in NICOGAN 40 SC and transform it into biologically inactive compounds, so that no trace of phytotoxicity is found in most hybrids.
