Product information

Sweet Aniseed is a sweet and aromatic herb from the Mediterranean region. Its fragrance is a mix of licorice and fennel, with a slight hint of lemon. Strong flavoured, yet slightly sweet and it is used as an essential ingredient in many Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisines. Sweet Aniseed is a popular scent in many perfumes, soaps, lotions, and candles. Its unique aroma is also used in aromatherapy to help relax the mind and body.

Choose a location with full sun and well-drained soil.
Prepare the soil by digging a hole about 20 cm deep and 45 cm wide.
Sow the aniseed seeds in the prepared soil, about 2 cm deep and 10 cm apart.
Water the seeds, keeping the soil moist but not soggy.
Thin the seedlings to about 15 cm apart once they are about 10 cm high.
Harvest the aniseed when the seed pods turn brown and begin to split, usually in late summer.

Fertilise the plants with a balanced fertiliser once a month.
