Product information
Garlon 600 is a professional herbicide that contains the active ingredient Triclopyr. Triclopyr is an organic compound in the pyridine group that is used as a systemic foliar herbicide to control broadleaf weeds while leaving grasses and conifers unaffected. Garlon 600 has a short residual life in the soil and has a quick brown out of labelled weeds but it does not offer residual control over new germinations.
Properties:
- Active ingredient: Triclopyr 600 g/l;
- EC-Emulsifiable concentrate formula;
- Group I herbicide;
- Short residual life in the soil;
- Quick browning of the leaves;
- No residual control on new germinations;
- Systemic foliar herbicide.
Product usage:
- It can be used as a foliar spot spray to completely wet all leaves and stems;
- The coverage should be to the point of run-off so that the chemical mix is just beginning to drip from the leaves once the spraying is completed;
- Plants susceptible to Garlon 600 are fruit trees, grape vines, legumes (pea, beans, lucerne etc.), potatoes, roses, shade trees and tomatoes.
Recommendations:
- Apply it with full coverage of the foliage, then you can use a more directed stream to thoroughly treat the stems and canes;
- In case of a large dense infestation (for example large old dense blackberry stands): treat it with a large motorised pump and handgun unit. This equipment can often be hired or a contract spray applicator can be engaged;
- In general cases, a knapsack or hand pump spray unit will be enough, these have a good coverage (to the point of run-off);
- Use a spray unit that is dedicated for application of herbicides only (to avoid cross contamination);
- Use measuring jug and cotton overalls or long-sleeved shirt and long pants, washable hat and elbow-length nitrile/neoprene gloves;
- Apply and use with care as many crops and ornamentals are very sensitive to Garlon.
